Welcome to this special episode of "Level Up: WSOP Hand Breakdowns," where we dive deep into the high-stakes drama of the World Series of Poker Main Event. In this season finale, join hosts Mike and Aaron as they dissect a thrilling showdown where $10 million hangs in the balance, bringing you one of the most tense WSOP hand breakdowns yet.
This episode focuses on a critical moment with just 14 players left, where small stack Coelho faces off against the formidable Kristen Foxen. Coelho, holding pocket Aces, makes a strategic decision to min-raise rather than shove, setting the stage for an intriguing WSOP hand breakdown. Aaron, our poker expert, praises this choice for keeping the pot manageable while still inviting engagement from other players.
As the action unfolds, Kristen, positioned in the big blind with pocket Kings, opts for a cautious approach despite her strong hand, leading to another fascinating WSOP hand breakdown. Our hosts analyze her decision to flat call, considering the pay jumps and her stack preservation strategy. The flop brings an Ace, putting Coelho in an enviable position but complicating his path to maximizing profit-a classic scenario ripe for a WSOP hand breakdown.
Mike and Aaron run this scenario through an ICM calculator, confirming that Coelho's raise over a shove indeed offers a higher long-term value. As the turn and river play out, we're treated to another detailed WSOP hand breakdown, discussing potential moves and the psychological warfare between two skilled opponents.
Throughout this episode, listeners are offered a masterclass in tournament strategy and decision-making, with Aaron providing insights into the subtleties of hand ranges, betting patterns, and opponent reading. The discussion highlights the nuance of trapping with Kings versus Aces and the complexities of post-flop play, making it an essential WSOP hand breakdown for any poker enthusiast.
As the hand reaches its climax, Coelho's bet sizing and Foxen's tough decisions on the turn and river are scrutinized in yet another WSOP hand breakdown. Each move is dissected to understand the implications of each decision, providing listeners with a comprehensive view of high-level poker strategy.
Finally, the episode wraps up with a reminder of the ongoing Upswing Poker Lab sale, offering listeners a chance to improve their game with exclusive modules and coaching insights. Whether you're tuning in for the intense poker action or the strategic expertise, this WSOP hand breakdown offers everything you need to elevate your understanding of the game.
Thanks for joining us for this gripping analysis of one of poker's biggest stages. We hope this WSOP hand breakdown not only entertained but also enriched your poker knowledge. Stay tuned for more from the "Level Up" series, where the chips are always down, and the stakes are always high.

    What about his overall line in general? Maybe this is because I'm a cash game player (who learned from Doug lol) but I think personally I would prefer constructing a range that gets it in on the turn. I mean he kind of played it like my average 2/5 opponent. Just seems like a weak strategy and if you were bluffing you'd stand to gain a lot by jamming turn. I'd personally mix on the flop between betting and checking with AA but when i do bet i would bet like 2mil and then probably mix again with AA on the turn. But overall on the turn I would be pretty aggressive by jamming a lot of draws and betting strong TP's purely and mixing with 2 pair+. I just think overall its tougher to play against and and since I'm a Doug fanboy I tend to prefer being as aggressive as I reasonably can be.

    I was surprised by the flat pre but do find myself flatting every now and again. That said, Coelho wasn't particularly out of line with his raise folds but it could have seemed like he was from her perspective if he was getting hands. Also think Coelho played great the entire time and his demeanor at the table was so relaxed. Would have been great to see him get some chips.

      yeah I personally wouldn't mind playing a Jam fold strategy on 11bbs no matter what the pay jumps are. I know the solver likes to have min raises but its going to make your overall strategy very complicated and hard to execute. If he has worked his ass off and studied like crazy then fine I guess its okay but based on what Mike and Arron said i didn't really seem like he was fully prepared to play in that way.

    A few questions. 1) Why not just shove AA with 10 bb? Doesn't this look weak and KK auto calls? 2) Why not limp shove AA because KK will most likely raise the limp.

    • @mrhumble2937
      @mrhumble2937 24 дні тому

      Well you can see she has KK, he doesn't know that. If he goes all in she can fold her bottom range.

    • @mbradycf
      @mbradycf 24 дні тому

      you could just shove the AA. It makes more money on average as a min-raise because it allows other players to play a wider range of hands (which you want when you have specifically AA). In theory you have to balance that min-raise with some non-premium hands too. It's somewhat complicated, and if you'd rather just play a shove, that's fine.

    • @bb-zt8ve
      @bb-zt8ve 24 дні тому

      the AA minraise is the best play in theory because bb should call a bunch of hands that would fold vs jam, and bb should still jam quite aggressively vs this open. solvers even minraise induce AKs and JJ off 10bb in icm spots believe it or not. on the other hand the KK flat is a (theoretical) mistake since it lets Ax bluffs realise equity, you dont get the stack vs QQ JJ AKs on some boards etc. As for limps, solvers dont play limp first in except for in sb even with icm, because of the benefits of taking the pot down preflop / not letting bb realise equity with any 2.

    • @justmusic2353
      @justmusic2353 21 день тому

      The main reason for a min raising strategy is because u can VPIP more often and win more chips because you can mix in some raise folds that normally wouldn’t be in an open jam only range. Say you play jam only and your range is AT+ from UTG, A5s+. By min raising you can add raise folds with A4s and A9o and make money with them also.

    Hey lads - I play in a game with 10% rake (capped at 5bb's), chop pots are raked and pots taken down preflop are raked - anything favourable I can do apart from not play (boring) or tightening up? I've thrown in lots of extra preflop 3-bets with a condensed range, but that could be idiotic with preflop rake being a thing, at least it makes the pots bigger so we hit the rake cap more often. oh no there are players (not good ones) that'll make fun of the K's guy for not "protecting his pot/hand" here post flop and preflop. do not educate them, let them let you off the hook every time they want on the flop when you have 3% equity vs their current nuts. hope they remember the ONE time they didn't and ran this bad and are so scared of that ever happening again they won't easily let it happen again.

      sometimes at low stakes this actually isn't close to as bad as vs good/great opponents also, these good/great opponents DO have bluffs in their range, for all streets, at least some of the time. for say a 1-2 player, if you trap your kings even at similar stack depths to here (or low limit tourneys since we're talking tourneys here), the average 1-2 player might not say ever have triple fire bluffs worth trapping for. a lot of the equity in the way the KK's guy is playing his hand is since tollerene WILL try to leverage the ICM pressure by triple firing a good bit of the time.

      that "do not educate them" comment was NOT meant for the upswing pros specifically educating us here, i mean us, regular poker players, do NOT stop your opponents from playing badly, is what was meant.

      also the worse the opponents are, the higher % of those will be just stations, and if yr sitting there on flop with KK's thinking "this can't be a raise, i got the deck crippled, what hand can opp even call with" well you're not a station, they want to call with a LOT more than you'd ever think to. some might bet/call a raise with like 98 hoping for backdoor 5's and 7's etc.

      when guys this good are smiling like that, in this spot, it's exactly that, "sometimes you just lose" and he knows it.
